By attending this event, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms.

I understand that this is a legally binding agreement intended to protect The Vida Sana, its organisers, facilitators, volunteers, teachers, and property owners, including Niki Shefras and Michelle

Button Carrillo.

1. Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in this event involves exposure to natural elements and ceremonial practices, including working around an open fire, burning copal resin, uneven ground, outdoor weather conditions, and group-based activities.

These activities may involve risks such as minor burns, smoke exposure, tripping hazards, emotional discomfort, or, in rare cases, serious injury.

I voluntarily assume full responsibility for my own safety and wellbeing and accept all risks, known or unknown, associated with participation in this training, even if arising from the negligence of The Vida Sana, its organisers, facilitators, teachers, volunteers, or property owners, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

2. No Medical, Psychological, or Therapeutic Claims

I understand that this training does not constitute medical, psychological, or therapeutic treatment and is not a substitute for professional care.

Any teachings, ceremonial practices, demonstrations, discussions, or activities offered are intended solely for educational purposes, personal reflection, community connection, and general wellbeing.

I confirm that I am participating voluntarily and that I take full responsibility for my physical, emotional, and mental health throughout the event.

3. Self-Responsibility & Personal Comfort

While every effort is made to create a safe and welcoming environment, I understand that this is an outdoor gathering and training day and that individual needs and comfort levels may vary.

I agree to take responsibility for my own comfort and wellbeing, including bringing appropriate clothing, seating, blankets, water, food, medications, or any personal items I may require.

I acknowledge that I am responsible for listening to my body, communicating my needs where appropriate, and making choices that support my own wellbeing throughout the day.

4. Personal Conduct & Safety

I agree to participate with self-awareness, care, and respect for others, the land, the ceremonial space, and the property.

I agree to follow all reasonable guidance and safety instructions given by the organisers or facilitators.

Unsafe, inappropriate, or disruptive behaviour may result in my being asked to leave the event without refund or credit.

5. Waiver and Release of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate in this event, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby waive, release, and hold harmless The Vida Sana, Niki Shefras, Michelle Button Carrillo, organisers, facilitators, volunteers, affiliates, and property owners(“the Releasees”) from any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, or liabilities of any kind — including those arising from negligence — relating to injury, illness, death, or loss of or damage to property arising out of or connected with my participation in the event.

This includes any claims or legal costs brought by third parties as a result of my actions or participation.

6. Indemnity

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or legal fees (including reasonable legal expenses) arising directly or indirectly from my participation in the event or from any breach of this agreement.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

7. Additional Terms & Community Agreements

Fire Safety

I agree to follow all fire safety guidance and act responsibly at all times around the fire and when working with copal smoke.

Personal Property

I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for my personal belongings. The Vida Sana and event organisers are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

Health & Accessibility

I agree to inform the organiser in advance of any relevant health conditions, injuries, smoke sensitivities, or accessibility needs that may affect my participation.

Alcohol & Substances

I agree not to bring or consume alcohol or recreational substances during the event. Anyone whose behaviour compromises group safety or wellbeing may be asked to leave without refund.

Phones, Filming & Photography

To preserve the integrity of the ceremonial container:

• Phones must be switched off or on silent during the training and ceremonial spaces. • Filming or recording during ceremonial practice is not permitted. • Photography may only take place with the consent of the organisers and group.

Photography & Media Use

Occasionally respectful photographs or short video clips may be taken outside active ceremonial space for community or promotional use. If I do not wish to appear in any media, I will inform the organiser in advance or on arrival.

Confidentiality

I agree to honour the confidentiality of the space. Personal stories or experiences shared by others will be treated as private and not shared outside the gathering without permission.

Event Changes

The organiser reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the event if necessary. Refunds or credits will be handled in accordance with the published cancellation policy.

8. Severability

If any provision of this agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

9. Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

10. Event Changes or Cancellation by the Organiser

In rare circumstances, it may be necessary for the organiser to modify, postpone, or cancel the event due to circumstances beyond reasonable control. This may include, but is not limited to, severe weather, illness, venue issues, safety concerns, or other unforeseen events.

If the event is cancelled by the organiser, participants will be offered either:

• a full refund, or • a credit toward a future event of the same type.

The organiser shall not be responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants, including travel, accommodation, or other personal expenses.

11. Personal Insurance

Participants are responsible for their own personal insurance if they wish to cover travel, personal belongings, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances that may affect their ability to attend the event.

The Vida Sana does not provide personal insurance for participants.

Acknowledgment

By checking the box (or signing below), I confirm that:

• I have read and understood this Participation Agreement & Waiver of Liability. • I agree to its terms voluntarily. • I understand that I am waiving certain legal rights, including the right to bring legal action against the organisers, facilitators, teachers, volunteers, or property owners.
